Columbian Tegu Progression

Daenerys

Mother of Dragons
Just some pictures of Tegusaurus Rex AKA Rex, Teggie, or Tegs. He's my new Columbian Tegu. He is the most adorable little lizard ever :) I will update whenever I take new pictures of him, which will probably be frequently as he is rather photogenic.

Also I don't know if he is actually a he. If anyone has any idea how I could figure that out please let me know!

So you got a B+W... Tamer than Reds BTW...
They are very difficult to sex and get bigger than Reds...
Loverly looking animal...
And when it's bigger you can get a small dog harness for it... They love going for walks...

I'd always heard Columbians aren't as tamable as Argentines but Teggie has been very calm and not aggressive in the slightest so far. I may have gotten lucky with him but the guy I talked to and got him from said his Coloumbians have always been the tamer ones.

Adorable! I get confused about which are tamer. If you Google it, mostly you find Argentine.

Yeah, I've seen a 3ft long tegu, it could eat my small cats. lol. My bottle baby cat is only 7lbs. She's not underweight for her size.

Oh well yeah I guess one could....my cat is too fast for Teggie lol...plus I will keep him nice and well fed so he wont ever be tempted ^_^ He is too small right now of course but he will grow fast.

New pictures of my baby Tegs!

Basking...

Looks really nice. :D

I could never have a big lizard like that though. We have dogs, and my mom would kill me if they got hurt. xDD

So is he friendly?? I used to have an iguana. Granted, iguanas don't prey on cats, but- he was a free-range iguana. He ignored two cats, hated the tortie cat and would chase her if he saw her, and snuggled with the female Siamese. I think a tegu would probably not prey on a family pet dog or cat. I don't know...

He is very very friendly. He let me pick at a bit of stuck shed on his toe a few days ago without a fuss. Well, he squirmed, but he didn't act aggressively. A lot of people say you should never have a Columbian tegu because they are super aggressive but mine has not shown any aggression whatsoever. And they stay smaller than their Argentine cousins so thats a plus. Right now he runs from the cat because she is much bigger than him. I don't know if that would be the case when he is full grown though. And he doesn't mind the dog too much even when he tries to sniff his face. Since he will only be about 3 feet long as an adult I don't know if he'd be big enough to eat the dog or cat. If he stays as calm as he is now I wouldn't think he'd even try.
