I need some help with the snake measuring program...lol

OK, so I downloaded this snake measuring program and I do NOT know how to use it.:headbang:

It seems like a simple program. But every time I open a picture of my snake. It comes out wayyyy too big. And the snake gets cut off. So I tried making the picture smaller thru paint. But then it gives me a small measurement that I know my snake is longer then 14 inches.

I had a tube that I allowed my snake to crawl thru which then allowed me to get some sort of measurement of 30 inches. But then the little dummy turned around in the tube and almost got stuck. Don't wanna try that again...:awcrap:

Someone help me use this dang program?!?:headbang:

I'm assuming you probably use the same measuring program I use (serpwidgets prog.) If you scale the image down, the ruler (or whatever) in the pic you used should be scaled down equally. So after you scale the image down you should just be able to set the known measurement. Are you using 1 inch on a ruler for the known measurement, and setting it to one? I'm not sure how to help, because it sounds like you are doing everything right.

Yes that's the program I have. When you mean scale down, is that when you begin measuring? The original photos that I took from my camera are too big. Does that mean I have to make them smaller?

Yeah if the photo is too big then bring them to whatever photo program you want and make them smaller. Then bring up the new, smaller picture on the snake measuring program, then set the unit length on the smaller picture, and then do the measuring.

I don't know if I did this right, but it says 42.(bunch of other numbers). So you begin the measuring, and then set unit length right?

When you open up your picture you first go to "measurement" > "set unit length". You then place your 2 points on the ruler (the picture you take of your snake should be taken with a ruler, or some other measuring device, within it) and set unit length (if you mark distance between 1 inch on a ruler you'd use 1)

You then go to "measurements" > "begin measuring" and start making all your points along the length of the snakes back. You will see the lenth= measurement go up for every point you make on the snake until you get to the end. Your end result is your measurement. For example if you end up with length = 24, and you set your unit length to 1 inches, then your snake is 24 inches.

oh! I didn't know that you had to take a pic with the ruler! well I will follow those steps tomorrow. I have to wait until tomorrow nite to handle Dallas b/c he ate early Saturday. I really appreciate all your help!

what does enter the known length between these two points mean?

When you take a picture of your snake you need a ruler, or some other measuring device, in the picture next to your snake. When you go to set length you place one point on the ruler (say at the 3 inch mark for example), and another point on the ruler (say at the 4 inch mark for example). That is 1 inch of length. So when it asks to enter the known length you would enter 1.

Yep! You got it now :) Good luck.
