I got a call today asking about what congressman I was going to vote for and where I get my information about the different parties and what I will use in order to make my decision when I vote... I answered " I haven't made up my mind yet, i am not sure what day I will go vote, I do not like politics so I try not to watch the news or listen to stupid stuff on the radio because it all sounds like mud slinging to me, and none of the things you asked me will determine who I will vote for, because those are not as important to me as the Congressmen and women needing to follow the same laws and pay the same taxes and healthcare that the normal every day joe does."
The lady politely said "thank you" and hung up...LOL
 
I heard something interesting on the radio the other day, from a dj that I very if ever agree with. But this time he was dead-on! He said that when he goes to the polls, he intends to vote for the candidate that he has never heard of before. He reasoned that if he had never heard of them, then it is unlikely that that person got us in the trouble we are all in now.

I think you mean CEOs... Like Bank of America's who took $45 billion in Bush bailouts and immediately repaid the American people by sending countless jobs (mine included) overseas to save a few bucks and help kill our economy. You don't have to believe me, but they laid out a clear policy, internally, of moving every position possible overseas to save money. I heard it straight from the one of the horses mouth's shortly before I got my pink slip. But yeah, let's keep voting for those crooks' pocket politicos to stay in office or bring back into office so they can keep raking in the dough while Fox continues to brainwash people into voting for them. And while we're at it, since you mentioned healthcare, how dare we expect those poor, innocent insurance companies to actually honor policies that might end up costing them because someone had the nerve to get sick. They should only be required to collect on profitable policies, and cancel anything that hits their bottom line.

Fox isn't the only news channel doing the brain washing. IMO all of the news channels do their fair share of fear mongering/ brain washing in order to cheat people into voting the way they think America should vote. And what about Obama's bailout? wasn't that one much larger than the "Bush bailout"? And it did nothing to help our economy. It saved banks and car companies....

Come one...Politicians aren't the sole reason for this country's financial and jobs crisis. Part of the reason, sure, but not wholly responsible.

Banks, which you seem to trust so much, have been robbing us, lying to us, spending our money without our permission, and generally treating us, the private citizens whom provide them with their capital, as if we don't matter for years. THEY are the reason we are financially shattered as a country. Health insurance companies have been getting rich off of denying people coverage for decades. And corporations? Really? Insider trading, fraudulent profit reporting, and all manner of ILLEGAL activities all designed to dupe us, the poor citizens, out of every penny we have.

You fear politicians so much that you're willing to allow the cretins that actually put us in this situation to simply continue acting in the same manner that got us here? I just don't understand that. If government doesn't regulate them...who will? :shrugs:

Tyflyer, I hate to disagree with you once again but I don't think you are being very fair or accurate with that statement. With the government to regulate banks now, who are very heavily government regulated, it is against the law for banks to lie to us and rob us. Are you just slinging mud or can you point to an actual lie or robbery? Banks cannot spend your money without your permission, again, government regulation. The capital that banks have at their disposal is called profits, all business strive to have profits, it is the American way.

Health insurance companies get rich by providing coverage from people. The people they deny coverage to do not pay for that service. Again, the insurance companies are heavily government regulated.

Insider trading, fraudulent profit reporting, and all manner of ILLEGAL activities all designed to dupe us, the poor citizens, out of every penny we have. Those activities are also against the law. GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS. Ask anyone involved with the stock market if they have ever heard of the FTC. Martha Stewart for example.

Oh I agree, we have lots of laws and lots of people who don't follow them. That was not my point. My point was that since Tyflyer feels the banks are robbing him and we already have regulations against that, why do we need more politicians to regulate us more?

His last sentence was "If government doesn't regulate them...who will?" That is a very good question. But then we have yet to establish if the banks are lying to us and robbing us and spending our money. I think that still remains an unsubstantiated statement.

Bank of America took $45 billion in tax payer funded stimulus and immediately turned around and sent every possible technology position overseas. I think that's pretty substantial, considering their technology support model was built around remote support capabilities. They tauted in their employee town-hall conference calls how they were going to save so much money with this new strategy very shortly after Mr. Lewis appeared on 60 Minutes to brag about how they didn't need the Bush bailout money but were forced to take it so as not to upset the status quo (don't remember exact quote, but that was the sentiment). You'll never see their outsourcing policy in print anywhere, I'm sure, but I was there and lived through it (or not, depending how you look at it), so I know for a fact it's true.

Ripping off American tax payers substantiated.
 
All the banks in America are in financial trouble right now. We can point fingers in a lot of directions and blame a lot of different people but the fact remains the same. Most banks are supported and owned by their stockholders. It is the responsibilities of the bank officers and their board of directors to protect the investments of their stock holders.

Regardless of who you chose to blame, it would be irresponsible for a bank to spend money on expensive labor (even you) or to turn down bail out money that may save the bank from financial ruin. Even if taking that money is distasteful.

I fail to see how doing that constitutes lying, robbing, or spending our money without our permission.

Statement still stands unsubstantiated.

Even if said bank (or any other corporation) is judging profit/cost margins based on the economy of it's location? In other words... We're charging these prices/fees/whatever because that's the cost of living in this great land... (but shhhh, don't tell anyone that we will avoid in any way possible paying anyone fair market wages based on the same economy because we can get soooooo much cheaper labor in countries with much cheaper labor)... But yeah, still unsubstantiated. Regulation is evil because they're all fair and honest, and any end to please the stockholder justifies the means. :bowdown:

And just for the record, my position was not expensive. It was on the low side of the median for my years of experience, location and industry. But still no way I could compete with overseas labor. Hopefully, you'll never have to learn how the game really works the hard way like I did.

One last point... Bank of America is hurting... LOL :roflmao: :rofl: It was all about profit, trust me, they didn't need to take the money or send any of those jobs overseas. If you're going to profit off an economy, you should be willing to pay wages in the same economy. Is that really such an evil ideology?

No I meant politicians. Who do you think gave the bailouts? Who do you think creates the laws that governed the banks? Who do you think encouraged the overextended lending for homes? Who do you think enabled your job to be shipped overseas? Who do you think actually gave tax breaks to companies that did it?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that can see the whole picture Tsst. I see that some people are only looking at ME ME ME and what happened to my job.

Everything that is being done by the "Banks" and the "Big Business" people is all being done within the guidelines set forth by the politicians. The grocery store and the shoe maker all want to make a profit. It is the politicians who set the rules they have to play by. If you want to me mad a somebody, be mad at the right person.
