What kind of music do you all like?

Nitelion94

I am The Nitelion
I myself only lisiten to christian. Im a big big big fan of Third Day,Needtobreathe,Sanctus Reel,Toby Mac,Newsboys,Skillet, etc, etc(I could go on for ever) If any of you are fans of christian music im looking for some new bands and/or just good songs from christian bands. But im just starting this thread to find out what everyone else likes.

I was a big fan of bands from my high school days
Pat Benatar
Styx
Journey
Tesla
Kansas
and of course all time classics
Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath
Deep Purple
Cream
These days, unfortunately music isn't possible anymore.

Celtic, New Age, Traditional Scottish and Irish Folk music.

Loreena McKennit
Enya
Molly's Revenge
Mediaeval Baebes
Seamus Kennedy
The Irish Rovers
The Corries

Honestly, it goes by my mood. When I'm writing, I prefer classical music, Celtic music or something wordless.

When I'm drawing or Photoshopping, I have like pop/classic rock.

I generally put Pandora on...I've found a lot of music through there that I love, and it's much better at exposing me to new music I might actually like than our local radio stations.

(and to the OP, if you're looking for more bands, or bands in a similar vein to those you like, you may want to check out Pandora.com. I've found a lot of new music that way)

Country, Blue Grass, Southern Gospel, Southern Rock....

Casting Crowns
Lynard Skynard
Hank Williams Jr.
The Chuck Wagon Gang
Ray Stevens

Thats how we do it in Alabama:poke:

I like almost anything except real twangy country, but mostly it is Christian rock for me, as well as some 80's rock and some new bands. I love Skillet, Kutless, Pillar, Demon Hunter, Haste the Day, Third Day, etc.

I listen to almost everything. Not a lot of hip-hop or urban contemporary (and I do like some artists in these areas), but almost everything else. I am also not that into twangy country unless it's really, really old, like before the 1960s.

Edit: for you Christian rock fans, any Christian metal out there these days? I heard a few Christian metal bands play about 30 years ago that I liked but I'll be darned if I remember their names!

I listen to the metal type of Christian...check out Demon Hunter, As I lay dying, All that remains, Haste the Day, Blessthefall, August Burns Red, Day of Fire, Decyfer Down, Flyleaf, most of it is metalcore..so it depends on what type you like. Flyleaf is more of an alternative type Christian..the singer can belt out some tunes, she is awesome...you can also go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_metal_bands and look up more!

I'm rather weird. I'm most partial to listening to music from the Sonic and Spyro games, as well as any game I've played and can find a soundtrack to. Now, bands I keep up with in no particular order (though LP seems to be my favorite) :
Linkin Park
Bowling For Soup
Three Days Grace
Theory of a Deadman
Rev Theory
Nickelback
Dead By Sunrise (LP lead singer side project)
Breaking Benjamin
Magna Fi (AWESOME but not known well; best known for All Hail Shadow for Shadow The Hedgehog (2005))
SR-71

And that about covers it. Heh. Though I do have lots of random tracks, usually something I've found on a YouTube video and downloaded, or was shown by a friend.

Either oldies, or newer minimalist electronic music.

I like Neil Young, the Beatles, the Band, Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, the Mamas & the Papas, David Bowie, The Talking Heads. I guess I could go on. I'll spare you the names of the electronic djs since I'm sure no one would know who they were.

Everyone's favorite band isn't Whitesnake? C'mon, it's a band with a name themed to our hobbies.

(Just kidding; not a fan of Whitesnake at all)

I listen to mostly everything. What I don't really listen to is country and newer rap. I listen to Classical, Rock in many forms, Pop, Oldies from varoius decades, Punk, Electronica, etc...etc... I don't really listen to christian music unless a band that I happen to listen to just happens to consider themself christian/christian music. I did see Five Iron Frenzy in concert once (I love "Wizard Needs Food, Badly"....and "Pootermobile" haha). I think Skillet was there too if I remember right, it was many years ago.

Stuff I have listened to recently includes Chopin, Beethoven, Metallica, Linkin Park, Paramore, mxpx, Garbage, The Postal Service, Lady Gaga, all kinds of techno, and the "Backin Up" lady
etc...

breaking benjamin

Way too many to mention particular bands, but pretty much any rock from old to new. I'm a child of 80s hair metal, and refuse to give up on that. Occasionally, I like some rap/metal cross-over stuff. I like good funky riffs, when in the mood. My all-time favorite band is represented in my avatar.

weird al? i dont exactly think hes a band. hes just an artist.

weasel stomping day is still a good song

Hey Nitelion94. What about Mercy Me or Casting Crowns? Although, they may not be as rock-n-roll as some of the bands you like....

weasel stomping day is still a good song

Funny thing, I have always called snake feeding day "Weasel Stomping Day", but I couldn't remember where I even got that phrase. It was just that I was excited to feed the snakes and I knew weasel stomping day was a fun day, so that's what I called it. LOL When people would ask what the heck I was talking about, I would say, I dunno, probably something off Ren and Stimpy. Now, I don't know if it was ever on there, but I just did a search and the video was apparently made by the same person that did Ren and Stimpy. Anyways, thanks for mentioning this and now I know where I got it from!

And to answer the OP question, I mostly listen to country, old and new, but I like a lot of other music too, from the 80s up til now.
