This and That
Well folks, shipyourreptiles is up and running again! Prices are better than I was getting from Fedex but not better than I was getting from UPS. So good news, not great but good news!!!

I think it's great for those with only one or two snakes to re-home, but personally if I'm buying from someone who makes a habit of selling reptiles, I'd trust them more if they are certified.

That kind of sucks for those of us who went through the whole certification process...

I know, I am with ya! I had to do all of that business and now watch a vid or something like that and boom boom pow you can ship now!

I believe my exact reaction to this was "YAHOOO!!! I was dreading getting certified at the moment but I want to rehome snakes (certification will come sometime this year but I need these other snakes moved sooner).

If they are shipping through Fedex I wonder how or if they are getting around the Fedex store issues. Even if you are certified, Fedex Office locations don't have to honor it and therefore not ship/hold for pick-up your animals. Even though the enforcement of the rule is individually decided it leaves huge gaps in service. I just went through a mess with the local Fedex Office store that I had been using for three years with no issue. The employees knew me and what I was shipping. New manager equaled new rules. This translated into animals that would not be held at their location (the hold was requested because the temps here were in the teens). Luckily a very conscientious driver called the hub who in turn contacted me. I then met the driver in a parking lot to pick up the animals from his truck, otherwise I might have received snakecicles; not good. I'm a tad bitter about the treatment especially when I followed their rules and got certified years ago.

This is good news for those who haven't been certified individually and for those who already have... unfortunately it probably won't last long anyway, so you're still covered. It is nice to have choices though. We need to get reptiles express back in there.

Hope it works out, but TBH I'm a bit worried someone will mess up and then fed ex will rethink shipping any reptiles through any shipper. Hopefully if something like that happened the ones who were already certified would not get screwed.
