Went to the pet store, came home with something else.

Allalaskan

The Crazy Alaskan
Well we went into the pet store last night so I could look at those papuan tree boas. Which by the way were mean as he!! haha. My wife freaked out because it started to strike me over and over so she pretty much told me "like he!! is that going to be in my house". She is fine around my corn but when she saw how much that boa was striking me she didnt want it around with the kids in the house.

Well She wanted to get a guinea pig and I like guinea pigs they are cute but didnt really want one my self..........Until we got over their. Omg, there was this little black one with long hair that had all these cute little cowlicks and I was smitten haha. After holding her I had to have her lol.

The black one is mine and the multi colored one is my wifes. Im not sure what im going to name her yet, im thinking maybe Molly or Cowlick.

They are still very small, they are like a 1/3 of my son and daughters guinea pigs. The Black one is female and the multi colored one is male.

Check out http://www.guineapigcages.com/ for info on building wire frame cages for them. I've found that solid-sided cages hold in way too many fumes and odors and can lead to respiratory infection. With the pair of pigs we have now, I built one of the 3.5' x 2.5' cages off of that website-- it was easy and cheap to build!

They are cute! I like the ones with the wacky hair, but both of ours are smooth coats.

Ha ha, nice! Are you going to be breeding them?

I've seen baby piggys at Pet Supermarket, and Petsmart had some for like four months. They can get huge!

I had a huge orange abyssinian guinea pig named Fred when I was a kid. And Pebbles, the aby tri-colored, and Barney the smooth agouti. They are wonderful, patient pets, but smelly!!!

Thanks for sharing those plans Hypancistrus :D I didnt plan on keeping them in there for ever, was mostly to hold them over till I could get a cage but after looking at those plans Im thinking I will problubly just build one.

Im not sure if we are going to breed them or not. I know the 2 adults we have are huge compared to these little guys. The other pair we have are a male and female but they have never breed, I think one of them may be sterile. How ever the new couple also male and female are young so I dont know and assume they are not sterile so babies may be possible.

The two adults get there cage cleaned 2 times a week lol, because of the smell. If we do it that way there is hardly any smell.

Awww the little Abby is too cute!

I've had 14 guinea pigs, but now we only have 2. They're amazing little pets, we also had a Skinny pig, my 9 yr old still really wants another, his name was Meatball, LOL.

Which one is the abby? is that the female or the type of color pattern? Lol, Im not "uptodate" on the terminology for these guys :D

They become sexually mature very young, and just like with snakes, if they're bred too early there is an increased risk for complications. You might want to just get the male neutered.

What cuties! Are they on pine or Aspen bedding? You might want to switch them over to Carefresh or something like it. The "dustier" bedding can give them respiratory issues very easily.

Congrats on the new babies!

I love piggies! I had them growing up and my kids have kept them as pets. I bought my daughter one two years ago at the end of the fair. He was sooooo tiny but a total sweety. Love the hair do!

They are on pine/aspin mix bedding atm, but Im going to need to pickup more very soon any way so I will problulby pickup some of that Newspaper based type stuff in a day or two. Any way im off to make a new cage, sorta haha I will post pictures when Im done.

Well, I just finished it. I am uploading the pictures to my photobucket account and as soon as they are done will upload pictures. Tell me what you guys think. I will have all the details with the pictures when its done.

Also the fences are 13 inches tall and are easly adjustable if needed. Also the Linoleum is used as a liner cut to fit in perfect and also easy to take out for cleaning.

Let me know what you guys think.

O and I am going to cut a new shelf to go on the very top of the closet space that will only be have as deep as the other shelves to hold all of the guinea pig supplys like food, timothy hay litter ect.

I suggested separating them at least till they are older. They are able to breed now but the female is still small and it's very possible for her to have complictions. We had one at work a little bigger then her that came in pregnant and she had to have a C section because she was to young.

Aspen is fine but pine and cedar have toxins and have been known to cause respiratory problems so you might want to say away from that.

Congrats on your new piggies, they are very cute little guys!
