Woden Dowels?

Nitelion94

I am The Nitelion
Anyone ever put the wooden dowels you get from a craft store in a snake viv?? Im asking here because I have some I was going to build a jungle-gym type thing for Sheldon. The pack says nothing about the type of wood that they are.another question Hotglue?? yes or no is it toxic to snakes?? or safe to use?? I dont remember it being stick after it dries but I dont remember? if it is bad to use is there anything else to glue stuff together that would be ok?

I have used dowels for my birds, to no ill effects. I'd be careful with glues-- make sure they set and air dry for several days before you put them in any type of enclosure. Definitely don't use tape-- it can really hurt snakes.

Hot glue should be fine. It's not sticky after and there are no smells or vapors. The easiest thing with dowels is to drill a hole and hot glue the inside right before you put the dowel in, so the snakes can't wiggle it free and fall and hurt themselves. Look at bird play sets, they have some good ideas :)
