I need more space
Finally got my new rack built. Melamin board, heat tape, pegboard for back, and foil tape to hold down flexwatt.

Very nice. I am thinking of building myself one about that size over the summer. How much time any money did it cost? I need an estimate.
 
The time is almost nothing the reason it took me so long is not planning it out. I could have been done in one sat. if I would have plan it better.

supplies:

2 sheets Melamin board 25.00 each
1 sheet peg board 14.00
6 foot of flexwatt and 4 sets of clips 32.50
3 ext. cords for wiring 3.00
1 box of screws 5.00
1 slide dimmer switch 10.00
total is @ 115.00 dolllars with out tubs.

There is enough scrap melamin and pegboard left to build a small hatchling rack which I will be building soon.

I'm getting really inrested now in building one. What were the height, width, and length specifications on that rack? Was the slab of melanin pre cut to that size?
 
I must be lazy!

I have 3 racks and all of them were made with pre-cut melamine. I have not had the time to worry with cutting my own (which by the way...I've been told is a pain). All three of my racks are different.
Here is rack number 1:

It holds 4 shoeboxes, 10 twelve quart boxes, and 4 sweater boxes.

Rack number 2:

It holds 7 sweater boxes.

It holds 6 sweater boxes and 6 shoeboxes.
 
It's not lazy it's pre-occupied. ;)

If I could find pre-cut stuff I'd probably use it too. I'd rather get the pieces in the sizes I want/need and put them together than have to measure out and cut to size and all that.


And btw, those mice sure look familiar. :D

I get my pre-cut stuff at Lowe's (or Home Depot...I don't remember which). It costs a little more, but it sure is a lot easier!

Cute mice, huh! Thanks bunches for them! I took a couple of the new females ( a black one and a brown one) and put them with a gorgeous pearl gray mouse I have. He took to them right away! I look forward to seeing what their babies turn out like!

By the way...I took my last final today!!!
 
I also have 3 racks that I have built myself. I purchased the supplies for it at The Home Depot (except for the heat tape). It did take a LONG time to build them, but they all work very well and make my work a LOT easier.

I just finished building this mice rack:cool:. It holds 21 containers.

I have many more snakes starting to reach adulthood, so I am going to have to build another adult rack (which I am NOT looking forward to doing!):awcrap:
