Its just started to act like fall here. Last week it wasn't that hot, temps were in the 80's but the humidity was very high. Doing work outside was like being in a steam-bath! This week it was the exact opposite, humidity very low, the temps have dipped into the 40's to 50's. So compared to what we've been used to lately, BRRRR! ITS CHILLY HERE!
Yesterday it was just a dreary day; misty, cold, rainy, "Irish weather" as my parents like to say! Hubby had a few friends over to pop metal targets in the muddy paddock and male bond with. He and the guys came in later and hubby had to brag, "Hey Hon! I found a baby in the paddock in a basket. What should I do with it?"
He then dropped a cold, baby garter snake into my hands! He said it was living under the target stand next to a log with salamanders.
My first response was, SIGH! "Honey! I didn't want another snake!" Everything in the room stopped as they stared at me open mouthed.
It was a true statement! I didn't want another GARTER snake.
(Besides I'm sure I'll change my mind soon. Repticon is this weekend! )
I tried (sort of! ) to convince hubby to turn it loose. But he kept whining about how cold it was out there and we should at least keep it for the winter and feed it up good before releasing it next spring. ( Have I been rubbing off on him??) So I broke out a dusty 5 gallon tank, ( One should always have a 5 gallon tank around. They're so handy for the little guys! ) rummaged around and found some bedding and set the little guy up with a heat pad and a light since its very cold in the house because we haven't turned to heat on yet.
I took pics too but I'm a little frustrated because the brand new camera I just bought, a Nikon CoolPix WITH MACRO! is having issues with transfering pics to my computer. So pics are coming! Someday!
So far I'm debating naming the little dude if he's going to be an eventual release. Right now I'm just calling him/her "Drey's Dragon".
