Snake Shipment Jitters - Help!

I have been stalking the FedEx website for an hour straight, refreshing on the tracking number for the snakes that will be arriving at my home tomorrow morning. I know the snakes have been packed and shipped safely (Thank you, Bob!), but I am still so freaking anxious, and excited, and just.....graaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! Someone distract me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am torn between frantically cleaning to get my mind off of it, and hitting refresh on FedEx some more...

:eek1::eek1::eek1:

Reeeelax, 'cuz it's totally out of your hands ;) It's a short trip for them, from KY to Memphis TN to TX...

I am so sorry. I don't think anyone can distract you. No matter how many times I ship out snakes or receive snakes I am still glued to the comp.

Your welcome my friend, was my pleasure.

I know exactly how you feel! I'm waiting for my new little girl to arrive tomorrow too! It's the first time I've ever had one shipped, I'm sure she is safe and sound, but it's a long way from the east coast!

I was lucky the day I got my first shipment of snakes. I had to work so I couldn't check every few seconds. Though I did call the FedEx office... twice... to make sure the box was right side up and inside... Pretty sure they thought I was crazy.

My first snake was shipped I wasn't worried one bit, I think the breeder (whom I'm sure had ages of experience shipping) was more anxious than me, but probably more in a hurry for me to actually pick up the package and not worried about if it would get there safe or not.

Don't be nervous to mail order! I'll put a pic up of my new little girl when she gets here to make sure you don't feel nervous :)
It's just a lot more anxiety to have one show up at your door rather than to go and get one. It's exciting!

I already have enough anxiety as it is! lol! I'll be going to two shows this month, almost noone carries colubrids. Most are BPs and boas. I think I might have to break the trend. Colubrids IMHO are cheaper, more active, more sociable and take up a HELL of a lot less room that those others.

Yeah don't be scared to mail order. That is the way I prefer it actually. Shipping costs suck but nothing we can do about that. But this way I can buy something I truly want. I can ask the breeder 101 questions about them and the snakes without having the impulse to buy it just because it is in my hand and not feel rushed and forget questions. I have to many impulse buy snakes I don't need more. lol

You're all making me nervous to mail order... Maybe I'll stick to local shows. :(

Think of it this way... It's kind of like being a kid at Christmas. You're super excited the night before but nervous Santa will forget something etc. It's a good kind of nervous. Shipping is actually extremely safe from what I've experienced and heard about.

Which shows are you going to? I'm heading to my first at the Midwest Reptile show on the 16th to pick up our first snake. Kinda sad to hear there aren't many colubrids...

We only have one good car (the new one), and the BF uses it for work. He works long shifts, so I prefer shipping to my door. I am home, so its easier than me possibly not able to pick it up right away.

Khena: I was told by a lot of breeders of corn snakes, that many may not be at the Indy show on the 16th. Most thought they would have their corns sold at other shows by this time. You can e-mail or call most of them through the Midwest reptile website.

I'll be at that show as well Khena. The guy that runs it... Yeah... BPs and Boas. My gf won't do it because he won't allow her exotics in the show. The Noblesville show is where I go each month to help her. There are a smattering. But not much. On the 2nd, there were maybe 12-20 colubrids. 6 of them on my gf's table. Brandon had 2 adolescent corns, and the guy that had the green anaconda that bit me had kingsnakes that his daughter breeds. Considering there were about 600 snakes there, it wasn't much.

The vendor list has 3 people claiming to have colubrids, the two websites linked have nothing listed as available. I guess I'll have to wait 10 days and see exactly what shows up.

Thanks for the info guys. Maybe I'll have to look into ordering myself so I can anxiously await a shipment as well. I didn't really want to, but I don't want a python or boa either.

My husband wants to get a trans pecos rat snake, but I can hardly even find those online. VMS says they should have some by/at November, but that's all I've seen.

Oh well, I guess my son just might have to wait a little longer than expected for his birthday present :D
