Tinley Park Show

Well, this was my first 'big' reptile show and I have to say, it was amazing! Granted 3/4ths of the hall was filled with balls and various geckos, but there were also some pretty corns, turtles, and beardies as well. With that being said, I think I've fallen in love with a ball morph though thankfully, I was smart enough to leave the credit card in the car today.



Originally, I was going to look for a pewter girl and possibly an albino ball and then I saw this beauty. That is a stock photo of the one I saw, but the color is amazing! I've been a corn snake person forever and I'm just looking at getting a ball strictly as a pet (unless I keep seeing those adorable pics of babies hatching and then it might become corn/ball breeder) so the price tag was a bit high. The one I saw at the show was going for $3750 so it might be awhile before I can consider one. Just thought I'd share though!
Btw, anyone with ball experience able to tell me how easy they are to care for? A few people at the show said they were just as easy as corns and need about the same space but I'd like to get a few more opinions on that one.

The amount of BPs there was a bit much! I have a few BPs of my own so it's not that I dislike them in any way. It just got tiring to turn every corner and see a zillion normal BPs and then the few cool ones, like the one that caught your eye, that cost as much as a down payment on a house.

In terms of care, they are super easy. The biggest challenge people seem to have is getting them to feed consistently. From what I've been told though, most issues occurs when the BP is too cold. A warm ball python should feed for you just fine. Oh and they like their food HOT, like as hot as your faucet will get!

It was crazy how many BPs were there! I was trying to find boa tables to look if anyone has the locality boas and it was hard to find them among all the BP tables. I even overheard a gecko person complaining that she couldn't find anything.

The corns were mostly at Terri and Chucks tables (and of course the wholesalers/flippers) and between them they have some good stuff.

I used to have a spider but my ex got him when we separated. He was a great eater after I converted him to f/t and his care was the same as my corns. There are some awesome BP morphs out there but boy can they be expensive!

Ok there is no way a gecko person couldn't find something. The majority of the show was geckos and BPs, followed by bearded dragons. Maybe there weren't quite as many bearded dragons but I went with some friends that have only beardies and they seem to enjoy looking at the same boring stuff for hours. I love beardies, I've owned them before, but overall they bore me and I don't need to see a thousand of them.

That's a Super Phantom ball Python, which is the Super form of a Phantom. Balls are very easy to care for and come in every color humanly possible! They best way to get a Ball to eat F/T is to let it thaw out without water and then rub it in your hands to get it warm.
