Bairds and subocs

I got my very first subocs today (and my first tessera) so Christmas definitely came early for me. I was worried it was a stupid impulse buy getting the subocs since I've never kept any before and I'm totally out of room for more snakes, but once I saw them in person I was so glad I got them. They are just so cool and much more different than I realized from other rat snakes. The little guy especially just looks "wrong" to me since he's so big for a hatchling and has such a small head-kind of the opposite of corns. They also have much shorter tails than I realized. Both are super mellow and inquisitive though and I'm thrilled to have them. Here's the little guy:

I liked him from his picture, but once the breeder showed me his parents I had to have him. As far as my personal taste, one of them is the nicest blonde suboc I'd ever seen. Other than this girl that is....

This girl is just totally stunning. I was amazed when I opened the box and saw her-she is gorgeous in person and I'm going to have to get better pics of her after she settles in. (Oh, and she's axanthic if you couldn't tell)

So now that I've gushed about my new TPRs, I'll show off my young bairdi pair. They're just yearlings, so far from showing their full color but based on what I'm seeing so far, I think they'll be knockout adults. Here's Diego.

This is his future girlfriend Carmen (horrible picture of her, sorry).

I have a hard time getting their colors accurately on camera. He's saturated with yellows and oranges bleeding through all over. She is a much darker silver with dark brick red peeking through and very distinct stripes forming already. They're actually not closely related at all, so I'm really happy to have a pair that looks so different, yet I'm still very happy with the way each of them looks individually.

I'm so jealous! I want a suboc so badly. Next year if all goes well, I hope to get a pair. Yours are just beautiful.
