Defense Authorization Bill

I think every American, regardless of colour, religion, sexual orentiation or otherwise, should be terrified and sickened that our government would even consider this. Did we learn nothing from WWII and what we did to American citizens of Japanese descent?

Wow! Sounding more and more like 1984! It scares the heck out of me! It goes against our constitution what our whole country was based upon! I saw its going to get far worse before the elections of 2012~

Sooo, if the American public determines that our government has become a terrorist organization, then what?

What is the USA government doing that is any different than what terrorists do? What do terrorists do that has not been done, somewhere at sometime, by our own government?

Disappointingly to me this is yet another unsurprising abuse of authority. An utter overreach by a power bloated government.

I also find the content of the first video absolutely laughable. A politician sighting the loss of liberty and the violation of our constitution and the intent of our forefathers. Was Mr. Franken trying to be a comedian again? The doltish ilk in DC curb liberty, violate the constitution and scorn our forefathers intent on a daily basis. I find it deplorable that politicians use one side of their mouth to decry the loss of liberty, violations of the constitution, and misinterpretation of our forefathers whilst using the other side to further the loss of liberty, destroy the constitution and castigate our forefathers for their intent.

Mr. Franken (and all DCites) those things need cherished and protected always, not just when it fits with your parties view!!!

I didnt finish the videos, but I thought the Patriot Act allready allowed them to detain suspected terrorist indefinitely and without legal counsel.

From what I've been able to gather, this bill isn't really changing anything. It's a general defense spending bill with one ambiguous section that's been the way it is since 9/11 when it was changed to include domestic terrorism. The media picked up on it and spun it to generate controversy.

Besides, the military has been able to indefinitely detain anyone it defines as an enemy combatant and the US has pretty much been in a perpetual state of war since the heights of the cold war.

I'm not really well versed on this, though, so I'm going to keep reading up.
