My son's new baby girl. Although she is far from a baby. My husband and son came home yesterday with her. She was a rescue. A young kid couldn't take care of her anymore and couldnt feed her. She came with the tank and uth and some hides. The tank was horrible, filthy but she looks in good health. She will be in isolation and taken to the vet next week.

I wouldn't be surprised if she was a Petco snake. We sell too many Bp's, to people who are not prepared, for my liking.
 
She was on aspen and it was full of poop and waste. They top of the screen had burn marks on it, so I know they were not using a heat lamp properly. She has no injuries to the naked eye and she is really sweet. She isnt head shy and handles well. No sign of mites, but I took the procaution of spray her and the viv down after we got it set back up. They didnt even have any gauges.

She is thin, you can really feel her spine. She is about 4 to 41/2feet. Should hang a sign on the door that says Reptile Rescue.

Outcast, I told my hubby that same thing.
 
It is sad, but it is probably true. I do my best to turn customers away. None of them ever want what is best for the animal. They all want something that they can use to scare their friends, or whatever makes them look "Bad".
 
Hubby's hatchling bp was a rescue too. A lady said she could no longer afford to feed her. She was a lil bitty thing.

My son Kyle was the one that got the first snake in the house, Piglet. He gave pig to me when we rescued Serj. But the snakes help he regulate his bipolar and sensory integration dysfunction. They relax him. He wanted a baby ball python but this girl had come in as a surrender and he fell in love immediately.
 
I keep my snakes around to help keep me calm also. PTSD sucks and my animals are the only non-video game that I can retreat into. Even though my wife hates it when I disappear into my snake room, or into my saltwater tank. I can stare at the fish tank for hours, so much life in the substrate, it is very interesting.
 
Oh yea, I leave him alone when he is messing with the snakes. I got some of the more jumpy snakes in his room. He just has a way of making them calm down too!

I keep my snakes so close partially because of my PTSD, too, actually. Also because reptiles were the first pets we ever had and it's what is comfortable and familiar to me. Good to know I'm not the only one :)
 
They are very theraputic. Their movement and they way you handle them. My son can have the worst possible day and be very manic and he comes home, takes Serj out and holds him for 30 mins and they are both very content.
 
I like holding a lot of different small creatures, but I'd have to agree that handling a legless creature like a snake is very calming. I always get nervous with the legged creatures that they'll jump out of my hand or I'll break one of their toes or something. Plus I love the feel of the snake's muscles gripping my hand or arm.
