Best "Old People" Sayings

What's the funniest expression you've ever heard from an old person? For some reason, "Great Googly Moogly" always makes me laugh - I have no idea why. My grandma always used to say things like, "Jiminy Christmas" and "Don't flip your wig." I've also heard old people call their eyes "peepers", and so on. Old people can come up with some great ways of expressing themselves. What have you heard?

I don't know if this counts, but my dad and grandpa (his dad) where playin tic-tac-toe. My grandpa was in the hospital after having several heart attacks and wasnt all there, so my dad was letting him win. For whatever reason, in the middle of the game, my grandpa exclaimed "This is like kissing my sister!"
It sure did lighten the mood and I still don't know why he said it.

I refuse to answer~ I don't want to be mistaken for an "Old Person". LoL

"Be careful you could poke somebody's eye out with that"!

I say okee doke all the time!!! Thanks, Beth!! And all righty then. I think those are Minnesota-isms, not old people-isms.

I have a bunch of phrases my parents/grandparents used, but I can't remember them till they come out of my mouth. You betcha.

My grandpa used to always say "Don't hit my treeeeees!!!!!"

Ha! I have no idea what that means, but it made me laugh. Here's another one (this one's from my grandpa); "Shoot low, they're riding Shetlands." Who knows what it means, but it was a great saying.

My grandpa said "Don't hit my treeeees!" every single time we left their house. Or every time we left the cabin. And, after a while, my dad would say it when I left his house, or his and my mom's cabin.

My Grandfather "PaPa" would always laugh, slap his knee and say "That Beats the Bugs-a-Biten!

Todd:grin01:

The best one I ever heard was from my mother.
"Damn, I'd rather sand a wildcats @ss then mess with that SOB!"

I'm sure there were others, her being a southern sailor and all, but that one really stands out as a true gem of her wisdom XD

Grandma use to say " boy u don't believe cow horns will hook" when she said she would give me a spanking. And id laugh and she would say tht

I'm going to have to think about this one as most of my parent's and grandparent's little sayings are a part of my vocabulary as well and like Nanci, don't think about them until they come out of my mouth. I can say that I fully understand all the sayings that have been posted so far and use many of them myself. And GoFride, what don't you understand about "Shoot low, they're riding Shetlands!"? It makes perfect sense to me. And "peepers" came from the song "Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get those peepers?"
