New Corn owner w/couple of questions

We pick our new friend up today and I have a couple of questions for you experienced folks....

I have the indoor/outdoor type thermometers with the long cord and sensors. What do you use to attach it in your tank? where?

Right now I have been making sure over the heat pad isn't too hot.

Second, for you who feed outside in a seperate enclosure.
Do you heat that as well?

Thanks....

I don't heat the feeding tank. The snake is only in it for half an hour at most.

It is important to return the newly fed snake quickly to a heated environment, though, since they need the heat to aid their digestion.

Hi there and congrats about your new friend.

From expirience I can suggest to stay away from anything like sellotape. It can get really stuck to the snakeskin....really stuck.

I have my temp sensor stuck in a tree.

I'm not quite sure about the kind of guage you have described, but ideally you have it sense from the bottom of the tank, over the hot side, and on the cool side as well. I don't stick mine to the tank, just lay it where I need a reading.

I think the people who are using the sensor type thermometers like you have are keeping the guage out of the tank, and putting the sensor on the substrate. One on the cool side and one on the warm. I'm not sure how they're securing the wire in the viv though. I actually heat the feeding box on a heating pad before I feed although I don't think it matters. I just figured it wouldn't be so different for them when they went into it, but they are taken out and put in their warm hides as soon as they've swallowed it fully. Strangely enough, my amel likes to be on her cool side, even after eating.....go figure!

i bought a tape thermo that sticks to the inside glass wall on both ends and they work quite well . nothing to interfere with when i mist the inside either
