Aquariums $200 Holy-poop

I was just wondering how the heck people afford a $200 aquarium? I mean come on that is alot of money. I was wondering if there was a cheaper way to get a cage or a glass container for less. Im thinking of getting a 20 gallon sized glass box. I am on the budget of $150 for a common corn for $50 with shipping. that leaves me with about $80 for the cage.

Are there any alternatives?

Some folks use Sterlite or rubbermaid shoeboxes, sweater boxes and blanket size boxes for their snakes depending on their size.
Some types fit nicely in racks designed for large scale breeding and such. If you have a hatchling, a shoebox would run you about $1.50 and you can get yourself a small uth with a rheostat for not to much. Get a small water bowl, some aspen and cut a used papertowel roll in 1/2 for a hide and you are set for 1 1/2 to 2 years. If the snake is bigger do the same, just get a bigger box, etc..

Just a suggestion for a cheap solution. If you are set on a reptile cage or aquarium, check your classifieds for deals.

Most of my aquariums come from classified ads in the local papers. You'd be surprised how many people just want to get rid of them. Or you can ask pet stores if they have any cracked ones. A friend of mine got a cracked 100 gallon tank for $75. It holds bedding just fine, just not water. =P

Or Rubbermaid/Sterilite boxes work too, they're just not as aesthetic to look at as a nice glass enclosure.

I just picked up a 60 gallon one this week on ebay for $60. Just do a local search so that you don't have to pay shipping and can pick it up. At first it seemed too big and I was planning on trading/selling it. But now I have him all settled in and he loves the extra space. He's been roaming around all evening! I've also seen them at garage sales too!

I got a 20L for $60 with a heater a background and a couple of other things.
Not evan a new 55 gallon costs more than $120. You could brobably get a 40 gallon breeder for $80 if you look around.

Yard sales

Aye Yesterday driving around, and I normally never have looked before or stopped at a yard sale, but I saw at the 3 yard sales that were going on each did have an Aquariums for sale.

So that is the best way to go if your on a small budget.

Last year our local petsmart had 20 gal. long reptile aquarium kits with good locking lids, reptibark, and under tank heater for $49. on sale. That's the best deal I have seen.

cheap aquariums

Well Cree, if you go to a petsmart or a superpet they sell 20 gallons for $12. And top screens for the same price. I started with a 20gallon when I got my first snake its a good size for a yr or two. Then I moved them into a 35 gallon, now I have two in a 50 gallon. I have plans on building a 150 gallon viv.
