I went to petshop tonight and bought 12 mice for my corns. At home I've noticed that one of the mice had a big tumor in the belly, so I was wondering... Can you feed to snakes a mouse with tumour!? can it be dangerous?! I think i'm gonna throw it but i want your opinion before! It's the first time i see a tumor in a mouse and it is so huge!!! :eek1:

Thx for replies

I personally would not feed it to my snakes. You should take it back to the pet store and get your money back.

I agree with Terri. Abdominal tumors can be caused by a number of things. Some of these are completely harmless to snakes while others could be potentially fatal. So why take the chance. At the very least the mouse is going to have been extremely stressed and therefore not in the best overall health. This greatly lowers the nutritional value of it for you snake.

Personally I would take it back to the store I bought it and get my money back as well. Depending on the stores attitude and what their feeders look like I might also consider finding a new source of feeders.

When I get sick mice, I ALWAYS feed them to my snakes. Big lumpy tumours, wheezing, twirling on their ear. Sick mouse = snake food. That's just me.

sick mice in the wild = snake food as well...

Huge tumors might not be quite so common in fully grown mice in the wild (probably because a snake has already ate it before it got big enough to notice the large tumor)

It makes sence doesn't it? It is the weakest link... goodbye

I've never heard of tumors being passed onto snakes. If you're really worried about it, kill the mouse and freeze it, as freezing destroys most things that could be passed onto your snake.

I would take it back to the shop. It's not so much that I would be worried about the snake, but more that I dislike paying for faulty goods.
