Oh my poor little girl

She is in shed and I have not seen her for several days except for a peek. I made a small shedding cup for her which she quickly found. Its has Spanglum moss on a terricota plate.. if I spelt any of that right :).. with a deli cup for the top moistened it for humidity with a spray bottle. Ahh will it ever end :)

I feel for her, and miss her prowling at night... then again I can relate to that once a month shed

I'm not quite understanding the shedding cup but it sounds like an awesome idea. My snakes are always having trouble shedding. What is a tericota plate and how did you set up the deli cut. I can certainly agree with you on that shedding thing though.

I used the plate and put the moss on it. I got the moss damp. Then I grabbed a deli cup and melted a hole in the side and put that over the plate with the moss so it can keep the moisture level better.

Its pretty dry where I live at, so I wanted to create something to hold moisture better.

I still have to spray the moss every once in a while but its easier the having to spray her. :)

I got the idea of using the terricotta plate because I made her a hide with a half of a pot made of the same material.

It's her favorite hide, I am not sure because of the texture or what, why I decided to use the same type of material for the base of her shedding hide.

She has been in there for about 2 days now. But I know she is secure, and has a good humidity level.

So I will see how well she sheds.

What's a deli cup? Can you take some pictures?

Anyway, i have 2 water bowls in my viv. One at the cool end, and one on the warm. That helps great on the humidity level. Then again, i live in Holland. It's pretty difficult not having the required humidity level

When I recocognize thge firat signs of shedding (dull color, eyes misting blue) I will mist my snake one or two times and then leave it be. I think I messed u one of his/her shgeds by misting to late in the process and it shed kind of nasty...almost like peely sunburn. Last she was excellent and completely intact. Just make sure you have water out...I find also thzt when my snake is ready to shed s/he will submerge itself in water breifly.

I know what you mean about looking so sad, My girl is in the same state and it's truely awful, they seem so miserable they must be so vunerable in the wild in this state. Mayzee changes from vibrant orange to really dusky pink colour, I am always tempted to offer a dose to tomato soup or minced carrot to see if that improves her colouring LOL... A few days and she will have a beautiful new dress on and be back to her normal self.

hiya :wavey:

mine shed 2 days ago..........it seemed to take forever.
I put a 1kg tub, with a hole in the lid, across the middle of the viv so s/he can be warmer or cooler has s/he wants, I put damp kitchen paper in it and thats where s/he prepares to shed. S/he likes it has an ordinary hide too when the paper is dry.

her/his last (1st) shed took ages because I had just got him and the viv was really dry (thats when he was licking the cork bark.....poor baby needed extra moisture)....as soon as I moistened the atmosphere and gave him his 'humidity tub' it was sorted in a couple of days. Happily both his sheds have been complete :)

thank you

Here is little girl's shedding hide.

I use a paper towel and keep it soaked. Then I drape it over the area she likes to hang out in. I also mist the viv a bit each day until she sheds. She shed completely this last time.

Ohhh. It's just a little plastic cup with a hole in it. Well, i could try it for their next shed. Just to see if they like it. Thanks for the pic

Yeah sure anytime, as far as my snake goes I think she likes it. I was also thinking the terricotta plate may keep temperatures just right for her, why she seems to enjoy the hides made out of it.
