Does anyone have any recommendations for reputable BP breeders, preferably on the west coast, that have CB balls feeding on F/T?

I've been thinking about acquiring a CB BP for a few months now, so yesterday I called Bob Clark's facility and found out that they feed all their Balls live prey. Since they are notoriously fussy eaters, I don't want to have the hassle of switching from live to f/t.

Thanks.

I think it means Captive Bred Ball Python, But I could be talking balls.... :sidestep:

coralchris,

It's off topic beacuse I'm asking about breeders of Ball Pythons (Python Regius) and not Corn Snakes.

CB = Captive Bred
BP = Ball Python (Royal Python in Europe)
F/T= Frozen Thawed (as apposed to live prey)

Cheers,
Jason

ok i was just wonderin what CB BP F/T im kinda new in fact the newest to this ill pic it up in the end! cheers people!!!

CoralChris,

Thanks for asking the question! I did not fully understand it either and did not have the chance to ask for interpretation.

Good day!!!

I could just be lucky, but I haven't had a problem switching balls to F/T. I would not hesitate to buy from Bob Clark and I do feed F/T. You will get a healthy snake that should take F/T, maybe with a little time and effort, maybe not. My brother in law and I have both bought balls this year and are both looking for 1 or 2 more, it seems like the season is winding down and they are getting harder to find. That may just be morphs, not sure about normals. You might try Alex Hue, www.alexhuereptiles.com, I know he had some normals available. Don't trust his available page though :), email and ask about availability.

Thanks Darin.

Could you clarify one thing, "...a healthy snake that should take F/T, maybe with a little time and effort, maybe not". Do you mean it may be difficult to witch to F/T or do you mean it may not ever happen?

There is always the possibility that it will never happen, in my experience that possibility is fairly small. But, snakes can be quirky just like people. What I was trying to say is that I personally would be comfortable buying a ball from a reputable breeder, regardless of what the breeder feeds. Most snakes will switch, however, some make take more work than others. Of course, buying one that is eating F/T puts you ahead of the game, but I personally would not let that determine whether or not I was going to buy a snake, assuming a reputable breeder of course. Hope this helps, and good luck. Another piece of advice, you probably are aware of this but, with balls, make very sure you are getting it from a reputable breeder. So many people are selling imports its crazy. The BOI is your friend. :)

Thanks Darin,

At the moment I'm leaning towards Bob Clark Reptiles. As far as I can tell he's the man when it comes Pythons. He's written many articles in Reptile Magazine and is well respected as a breeder. I guess getting a good feeder BP is a bit like so many things in life- you pay your money and you take your chances.
