Help for building a Viv

Hi, i'll be getting a new corn for Simon in the very near future si i have to build a viv for it. Does any of you have any advice or guidline or website i can check to build a good viv ?

Here is what i want to do :
i want to build a stackabl viv so i can put the one i already have ON TOP. So they'll have to be the same size but ii'll make the new one lower since i dont want the other one to be too high. So i tough i'll have to make a woden frame for it to be solid and being able to put the other one on top. I'll have to make a front door if i want to reach inside, and i'll have to make some sort of ventialtion because the top will be covered by the other viv. I though i can make little holes on the side for air to come in

So what are you advice on that ? should i use glass or plexi glass ? Should i have every side in glass or some out of wood ? how should i make corners since i'll put a frame of wood ? anything else i didnt tought of ?

A few suggestions:

1) If you use wood you will need to find a good sealer and waterproofer. The snakes will repeatedly spill the water and soil the cage. If improperly protected, the wood will absorb both liquids and odors. Also keep in mind that wood is heavy and difficult to move.

2) Glass and plexi both have pros and cons. Plexi is lighter, easy to cut and drill, but scratches easily. Glass is more resistent, but is difficult to cut and mill.

If you plan on acquiring even a small collection you might consider building a rack system. In the long run it is cheaper, easier to change around, and can be sterilized in case "little nasties" find their way into the ol' snake room.

Racks

I found quite a few good sites that had step by step plans, recommendations and even pics (free) on how to build what you are looking for. Do a Google search on "How to build a vivarium" and you should be able to find them. Many suggest using Melamine wood, but depending on how many you want to stack, they could become quite heavy. I know folks who have made melamine racks have commented on that in the past. Good luck!
