white paper for substrate?

I was thinking of using some white printer paper in the vivs for my new hatchlings once they arrive (sine I buy in bulk and they are a good size). But I wondered if the brightness of the white might be stressful for the snake? I know many folks use newspaper (is that probably better and more absorbant?). Thanks for any advice.

Snakes are attracted to flashy colors, at least mine are, so I wouldn't think they are color blind...

As far a using printer paper for the hatchling's, I don't see why it wouldn't work...I've used everything from shredded newspaper to wood chips...Personally, I have found paper towels to be easier to use, cheaper, and more absorbent then anything else I've tried...That's what I currently use for all my snakes aven the adults...Except the one's that go in the show tank...
