Vitamins

Flygning

Axe'!
How many of you give your snakes some sort of vitamin or mineral supplements? Is it really neccessary? If y'all do, what do you give them, how often, how much, what does it do for them, etc? Now that I'm starting to build up my collection a bit, and planning to breed when they're old enough, I want to keep them as healthy as possible.

I do. Their diet in captivety isn't neary as diverse as in the wild. I just bought some reptile vitamines at the local pet shop. Dose is like 4 drops a liter. 8 in case of juvelines. Whoever was so stupid of concentrating it *that much* :/ I have a snake, not a dragon. Anyway, i just do one drop in the waterbowl. It's not like vitames are expensive :/

I only give supplements to sick snakes that need building up, long-term non-feeders who are showing signs of weight loss (including hatchlings) and pre-/post-laying females to help build them up. The rest have always been fine without (they have an unvaried diet of frozen mice).

I breed my own feeders, so I make sure the feeders get a treat of greens or fruit every so often. I really never though about giving vitamins to my snake however. I figure she gets what she needs with the mice.
