his hide

ive only had my lil baby corn for 3 days, and he never comes out of his hide, unless i take him out. he doesnt seem to mind, when i hold him. but he never seems to come out. is this normal? i know theyre nocturnal creatures, and maybe he does at nite, but i stay up till like midnite, and no sign of him. is it the new environment maybe? he seems to be calm, but maybe hes just shy? i got him from "petco" and thought im doing him a favor, cus i didntlike the way they kept them, and everyone was knocking on the glass etc. u guys think the behaviour will change? oh and i forgot, i handle him like 2 times a day, which is prolly too much. that could be it huh?

You should definitely let your snake settle in for a couple days, without bothering it. Don't pick it up, don't walk by and look at it too many times, etc..... Then after that, feed it, let it sit a couple more days, then feel free to handle it just for a little bit. It's really a vulnerable time for the snake, it has to get use to its new environment, the new smells. Good luck with your new snake...

Pretty much, for the 1st year of their life, baby corns hide. This is normal so don't worry. Like oscar said, let him get used to his surroundings. He doesn't know anything about where he's at yet, and to him, EVERYTHING is a potential predator. He'll eventually come around, and when he does, handle him enough to the point where he's comfortable. Too many people let hatchlings be until they are bigger, and then they wonder why their 3 foot long snake is so snappy. Better to get him used to it now then later as soon as he's used to his new home

yeah just leave him be for a week except water changes every other day then after a week feed him and let him be for 48hours then have a 5-10minute handle each day until the day of feeding and keep following that pattern. If you do this and you have the correct setup after a while he'll start sitting out, all my baby corns do and that's because in their first year they only really get handled once a week.

What viv do you hold him in? He/she might feel treatend by an all open (like glass) enviroment and is afraid to come out. Right now i simply have a towel over 3/4 of his viv and he feels much more secure to come out now.
