Housing Questions (have been asked before but I'm lazy)

Whats the lowest temperature that a corn snake can live in?
Whats the Hottest temp?
Whats the best temp?
Can I use an Infrared heat light 24/7 to keep the temp?

(I'm asking because my 5 week old 1 footish corn likes to spend time squeezed between the tank glass and the water dish which are both cold, and I'm worried that the tank temp is to hot for him its @ 81 right now)

How long does it usually take for a snake to go through the digestion cycle? mine ate on thrusday and I havent found any poopies yet.
Do corn snakes like cold or warm water?
Do corns like water when they arent shedding?

More questions to come!

No no no...

Before you ask questions, do a search on the forums first! Trust me, I have been on this forum for a couple of months now, and I am still learning new things by doing searches! And also, do not tell people you are lazy! If you say that, some people that could be very helpful will not help you. If you really have trouble finding the answers to those questions either on this forum using the search function, or in the hundreds of websites with cornsnake caresheets, then you can ask the question again! But I feel those are basic things you should have already had setup before you got the snake. You should really look into buying Kathy Love's Book on cornsnakes!

so should the ambient air be at 80ish or should the substrate be at 80ish?
I have a undertank heat pad and a Infrared Heat lamp because the air temp is at 70ish w/o the light (just the heatpad) Does the air temp matter or just the substrate temp?

The best temps for a corn are between 25 and 30 degrees. Some corns prefer cooler temperatures then others. Substratre heating is good, as long as they can't burn themselves. Make sure they can't dig in the substrate to reach the heat mat (I assume you have it under the viv. Not inside)
In the wild they usually warm up on 'hot spots'. Like stones or branches warmed by the sun. So belly heat is a good natural way to go. But the temps in the rest of the viv should not be to cold either. Best way is a temperature gradient. Make 1 half the warm side, and one half the cool. The snake will move to find the best temperatures. if he's always on the hot side it's probably a bit to cool, and visa versa.

Other thing to consider is hiding places. provide plenty both in cool and warm eara. He'll prefer savety over the best temparature :)

Snakes like cool water. It should be slighly cool to you. Unless you force him to take a bath 'viv temperarure' is fine. He may soak in it when close to shedding. Usually when the humidity is to low. Other then that they simply need fresh water to drink. Change it every other day. Snakes have a lot of bacteria on their skin and in warm water it's quickly unsuitable for drinking.

I'm not quite sure on digesting cycles. Someone else may awnser that question. However it's generally accepted to feed a baby corn every 5 days. Some may poop the next day, some may hold it in for over a week.

There is no perfect answer.......

Air temp is meaningless since the snake doesn't live in the air. ;) You want the surface of the substrate in the warm end to be between somewhere between 79-83. The optimal is right in the middle. Temps that are too low increase the risk of incomplete digestion. Too high and the snake is more likely to stress, dehydrate and loss weight since its' metabolism will be increased.

Most corn will digest their meals in 1-4 days. The process of digestion is influenced by temps, meal size, snake size, ect. Young corns will often completely digest a pinky and not have much to eliminate. The poo gets bigger and darker with older mice.

Do corn snakes like cold or warm water?

Room temp is perfect.

Do corns like water when they arent shedding?

Some do, some don't.
