We figured Ivan was going to make things pretty messy around our place, so we decided to head out a day early to get a jump on the weather. We're not taking a direct hit, thank goodness, but there will be tropical storm level winds and rain, plus the possibility of tornadoes. So right now we're up outside of Savannah tonight.
One drawback is that we had to pack quickly to get out the door, so I didn't bring a lot of any particular cultivar for the show. Still got a lot of snakes packed up, but I expect I will sell out quickly of some things I should have brought more of. Oh well. That's the breaks, I guess. Could have been much worse.....
Of course, there is always the possibility that we will get a phone call from one of our workers telling us that we better head on back home right away. Even tropical force winds can down trees, and all it take is one through the roof of the house, reptile building, or rodent building to make a big problem for us that needs to be dealt with ASAP. In which case we won't be showing up at the show at all after all.
But at least it looks like the storm won't be going on up to Maryland to impact the show.
