Well the time has come. My 15 mice babies are 6 days old and ready to be frozen. I CANT DO IT. How long will it take them to die? And is it painful for them? Uhh. Why cant I do it? My cousin said he would do it but even then I just can't. Maybe it's because I'm a girl and I love little babies. Well, any advice on how to do this would help.

For the record: I do raise mice myself and I rather enjoy it and them!

I think we have to go back to the basics here.

When you got your snake/s what were you doing as a food source?

Why are you raising mice?

I know it is difficult for some people to do, it was for me at first (10 years ago) too! But why did you make the choice to raise and breed mice? I did this because of cost of shipping frozen due to the size of my collection!

I don't mean to come off as a cruel uncaring person. That's completely not the case. But as a snake enthuisist, I think you have to make some hard choices sometimes. Breeding one animal to feed another is par for this course! Killing and freezing maybe is not for everybody, but it sure cuts the cost! Am I a bad person because of this? No, I don't think so. It's natural progression of the food chain.

Bottom line is...

You can raise your own, do the deed yourself and save some money. Or you can pay someone else to do it. Either way it has to happen for your little guys survival. Personally I'd rather do it and know what kind of care the mice had, the cleanliness of the enviroment and precisely what they have been eating.

It's your choice.
