Minimum night time drop

Howdy folks. I've got a heat pad and a lamp that I use during the day, and the lamp is on a timer. At night, with just the heat pad, temps can drop to the low 70's on the warm side (last night it reached 57 degrees F in my house). This is too low, right?

My heat pad has low-med-high options, and so far have kept it on low 24 hours a day. I feel I need to turn it up to medium, but this will bring the temps into the very low 80's. Is this too warm for nights? I suppose I should turn it up to medium and buy a dimmer switch. What do you guys think? If it's 84 during the day, is 80 too little of a drop for night? I hope this rambling makes sense. Let me know if my situation is at all unclear.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I don't really think 70 degrees is too low a night time drop at all. Sometimes if it is like 80 at night, my corn will move to the cooler side of the viv where it is a little more like 68. Normally you wanna keep their temps closer to 80, but they can tolerate and sometimes even prefer these cooler temps. Just be careful that it's not getting to be like 60 on the cool side of the viv.
