HI um i learnd this from some care sheet just thought i ought to share
ok for those of u who want to use dirt for the cage (i dont recamend it cause it can get damp and cause sress cracks if u got a heating mat)
or put a climbing stick in your snakes area first select a sturdy stick or an area of dirt that is free off mold mushrooms or other mold type stuff for sticks aply the same things to avoid plush choos a stick that will most like ly be free from parasites.
ok to sterolize first soak the dirt or run the stick under water. then set the oven to 300 degrees farenhight (cant spell :p) then set a/the timer for 15 minuts and place in the oven away from the heater wire thingy
after the time is up let it sit untill cool so u dont burn the snake that would suck. place the dirt?stick in the cage and your snake will enjoy =D

ps i dont recomend dirt . i use the aspen chips =D my snake loves it and it spells piny fresh =D

have fun

We soak ours in boiling water then let them dry off. We are going to start varnishing them too so that they are easy to clean

Does anyone know how to sterilize branches that are to big for an oven or bucket with disinfectant? I don't think pouring a bit of boiling water would be enough to kill parasites inside the branch. It used to be in a cameleons cage.

Can you cut them in half? boil and bake them then screw them back together, thats what I did and they look great.

I put mine in the bath. I scrub them, then use Milton fluid, trhen rinse them loads of times and scrub again, then I pour boiling water over them, lots of it. A bit messy but I do a few at a time.
I planning on varnishing them next time so cleaning will be easier.

Nah. There these big, curly brances. I never get them back together.

Somehow i'm not looking forward to taking a bath where i washed a (possibly full of parasites) branch will all these nasty disinfectant stuff. I wouldn't feel clean :D Besides, how to i get rid of possible paratised nested inside the branch. I don't think they'll be killed with just boiling water poured over it.
