? on feeding

cornsnakekid92

trouser snake
first off i put this here because it is not a problem. anyway- can somone give me a chart of how long to what size mouse it should be eating? also how long shoul the lump be there for after feeding? and are weanling considered small mice
thanx
C.K.

pinkie = hatchling
fuzzie = 3 monthes plus if longer then 16 inches shed size
small mouse = anything bigger then 26 inches shed size
medium, large, xl mouse, use at your own discresion depending on the snakes size and excersice.

usually anything after 48 hours is something to wotty about, usually a regurge, but around 24 hours is the norm for a lump to go down and 48 hours after feeding for handleing.

Hope this helps

I have snakes that will eat enough that the lump still shows after 48 hours (and some that are so small it still shows)...

Length of the snake and prey size really have no relation to each other...it has much more to do with the girth (size AROUND) of the animal in question.

A good prey size is 1 to 1.5 times the size of the snake at it's largest point.
Some snakes will take the bigger end of the range...where others prefer the smaller end of the range. I end up feeding multiple prey items to my snakes at SOME point in their growth. I have an 17" Anery that eats two fuzzies once a week (and she eats them WELL...she'll hit em on tongs and wrap her entire body around them until she is off the ground). I have a snow the same size that will only eat two every so often...but will usually only eat one.
I have a 20+ incher (haven't measured in a while) that will ONLY eat one fuzzy. Has never taken a second for me yet, and he is much bigger than the previous two.
