Silk plants were on sale...

...for 50% off at Michael's craft store, so....for $25 all six of my snakes got new plants in their vivs and I even found a cute wicker basket hide (see right side of pic) for my amel. He's a little spoiled since he was my first and has a 60 gallon viv.

When I was cleaning his viv out today, I didn't realize that I didn't have enough of the same substrate to refill his viv, so I'm doing a little experiment. He has half carefresh and half aspen. I'm gonna see which side he likes best. So far he seems to like the carefresh side. :)

Here's another shot of the basket hide. They had some cute little chests with drawers and stuff I thought would be cool since a lot of folks find their lost snakes in dressers. But this one was priced just right. $5 :)

I did the same thing a few weeks ago, although nothing was on sale. I still managed to spice up my tanks for about $15. Silk plants are wonderful additions to those tanks.

wish they were that cheap in the UK, even last years stock is over £5 for the large one's.
Your lucky snake's had a good new year, na d a late christmas prezzi.

Yes, well, I can think of a million other things I need for myself, but for some reason, the snake came first. :) Today I found Yoshi all curled up in the basket, so he must like it.

What is carefree bedding if you don't mind me asking. Your setup is great , i have the same thing going, in about a month or so my Dayoh will be moved into a 60 gallon to. He has silk plants in his tank and he loves them, The basket is a good idea, whe ni get the new tank i may look into one, wonderful thinking.

Carefresh is a recycled paperlike grey bedding, clean and fluffy. I've used it but never for snakes.

I was using carefresh but went back to the aspen. Besides not liking the look, I found the snakes weren't as able to burrow, and it was constantly getting in their water. That was something the aspen almost never did. Drove me nuts! I'm going to give the rest of the bag to my friend who brings his rattlesnakes here for our anti-snake dog training class. He likes to use it for travel as it makes good padding for his critters. Love the look of your viv Babbaloo! I need to get some more plants for mine.
