Another rack system question

OK...in another few weeks or so I am going to attempt to build a rack system for my snakes. The building of the rack looks fairly easy but I have a few questions about heating.

1. I know I can use flexwatt heating, but should it be on the bottom or back wall? If it does go on the bottom, does it go directly on the wood?

2. What do you use for the back part of the rack? Peg Board or regular piece of wood?

3. And lastly, about what does it cost for flexwatt? I keep hearing different prices. What is a good depth size...3 inches on the flexwatt?

Thanks..

You can use it on the bottom or the back. I have made a few racks where the heat is on the bottom. When doing this you want to make sure you don't wear out or damage the flexwatt with the tub when sliding it in and out. Back heat you won't have that problem.

For back heat I'd use a soild piece or wood instead of peg board. Peg board will allow the heat to escape, where a soild piece of wood will help hold the heat. It can be thin like peg board though.

This guy seems to be the cheapest I've seen. I haven't purchased from him but he has good feedback on the BOI.

hmm

It seemed like it would take a lot more flexwatt to use it on each shelf.
I used the flexwatt on the back wall and I also decided to use pegboard.
I used the 11 inch wide flexwatt strips.
I used pegboard to allow for some circulation.
I know you have circulation with the front of the rack open but I didn't want to have too much of a heat build up towards the back of the rack.
I keep the probes about half way front to back.
