Cornsnake shedding???

Mangrove

Corns_will_rule_the_world
i have heard a number of explinations for a snake shedding its skind, such as its eyes go murky blue, my snake's colors sjut got very dull, i asked the man at the petstore, becasue i was buying food and he said if it is gunna shed it will not eat, but the snake ate then shed later that day? i also heard if you soked them in water i was wondering if this was for all anskes or sjut like pythons, becsaeu that is how we use to get my python to shed, thanks in advance for your help... :shrugs:

For the most part snakes about to shed usually won't eat due to the fact their sight is limited due to the upcoming shed. As your snake has proven there are exceptions to the rule. I have some that won't eat and a few that will eat during shedding.

Soaking all snakes helps the shedding process. It softens the skin and allows the shedding to go quicker.

is it required to soke them, i heard it was sjut if they were having trouble sheding? :shrugs:

It all depends on the snake....Some eat while in shed, meanwhile some don't. I have one corn who eats everytime you put food in front of her. Shed or no shed...

As far as soaking the snake, it all depends if the snakes has any problems with sheds. If the snake sheds completely, I wouldn't worry about it. However, it doesn't hurt letting him soak in the water....

I have one snake who I had "to help" him thru the shed process. However, that was only twice. Now, i jjust spray him with luke warm water when he is in the blue phase..

I've never soaked my cornsnake during or after a shed. It would be a good idea though, to put in a humid hide. If your snake won't use one (like mine) you can add a second water bowl and put wet paper towels (or moss) in it (though just water will work) and put that on the warm side of the tank.

The only time you NEED to soak your corn, is if the shed didn't all come off (esp the tail).
