Freeze - thaw -freeze?

I need to know if there are any issues with thawing a fuzzie and then, if the snake doesnt eat, freezing it again. I found that my 3 month old, sometimes dont want to eat the day I have in mind, so I either have to throw the mouse away or freeze it again for the next day. I feed her every 5 days.

So long as the prey item has not been left out for than an hour or so, I think throwing it back in the freezer would be OK. I would not repeat the cycle again though (e.g. thaw - freeze - thaw- throw away).

But I've fed out freezer burned pinkie's with no trouble~ I've also had my freezer accidently defrost (Kids need to remember to shut the door!) and let those re-freeze and still serve them. I used to work in a grocery store~ and you would be amazed how often "Fresh meat" is thawed and frozen (intentianally or accidently) before you purchase it. This mostly happens in the stores that don't have a "Butcher"~ the meat comes in frozen~ is allowed to thaw to offer as "Fresh" is re-frozen if it gets to a week or so without purchase~ is sometimes allowed to thaw and seperated into smaller packages~ re-frozen~ the stuff that comes seasoned already is usually trying to hide a "smell." I kind of figure thats why it is always recomended that you only thaw food once~ you really don't know how many times it was done before you purchased it!!

You can *probably* freeze~ thaw and refreeze once if the prey item doesn't "stink" (It should smell like a dead mouse~ a dead rancid mouse smells much worse) but remember~ not all bacteria is killed in freezing and you are feeding the prey item out uncooked after having been warmed to a very inviting temp for little nasties~ so you are definatly introducing more potential for intestinal trouble.
