I'm a little creeped out right now. I just opened my front door and found a young black man standing on my front porch~

But see~ to get to my porch he had to open my front gate~ ignoring both the door bell and the "No Soliciting" sign on his way through and into a little courtyard like area to get to my front porch. This isn't a little gate you might think you can ignore~ it's obvious you should stop there and ring the door bell!!

I opened my door on my way outside and almost had an attack~ scared the snot out of me~ and I made a rather loud inhaling sound when I was shocked to see him standing there. My dog heard that from wherever in the house he was and came running~ stuck his big head out the doorway between my shaking knees and began growling~ LOUDLY. I let him growl all the way through this young mans speech about how young people deserve a chance at success and how I should buy a magazine from him. I told him another young man from the same supposed company talked me into purchasing a magazine for charity last week (That young man found me in my garage and did not just walk in my front gate) but this guy would not give up~ Kept insisting that if I purchased from the other young man~ then what was wrong with him that I would not also give him money!!

Until I moved my leg enough that Atlas (my growling Boxer) could stick his big head the rest of the way out the front door and get a good look at him!!

As soon as he left Atlas and I ran out together to lock the gate!

I love my dog. I'm always going to have a BIG dog!!

Sheesh! I've had that happen a few times myself, but my dogs are in the back yard. One guy kept coming over every day for money for painting the addresses on the curb. We had just had a done a couple months before so I told him I didn't need it. Well he was very creepy and wouldn't let up so finally one time I had my 100+ lab answer the door with me (letting him bark a few times reallly loud) and told him that if he showed up again I was going to call the police. Finally he got the message. It's six months later and I have another notice that they're going to be doing it again in the neighborhood.

I have no problem donating to these things, but these guys and some of those magazine sales folks get pretty creepy and harassing (especially if they know you are an at home person).

By the way, I just love your dog. I still have that picture of his face in my mind when you had him in the long sleeve t-shirt!

Way to go Atlas! (Very appropriate name by the way as big as he is) Perhaps he thought that was the guy that gave you the idea of putting a tshirt over his leg! In all seriousness though, that would have made me nervous as well, and you can never be too cautious. Keep that gate locked!
