Unfortunately, the Corn Snake's western range generally stops at the Mississippi River. However, you should easily be able to find a Great Plains Rat Snake (Elaphe guttata emoryi), a close cousin. If you are really adventurous and don't mind a grumpy disposition, you should also be able to find Black Rat Snakes (Elaphe obsoleta obsoleta) and Texas Rat Snakes (Elaphe obsoleta lindheimerii).

The Emoryi is what we cross with Amelanistic Corns to produce Creamsicles. :)

Their range covers the entire state; of course actually finding one is another story! ;)

Your best bet is to get involved in your local herp society. They often schedule field trips.

You will probably need to wait for a while longer before heading out to find herps. Temps are still pretty cool, especially in northern Oklahoma. March would be a good time to start turning over debris starting around midday, especially if it get up around 70F. Good luck!
