Cause thats what I have right now for him. I got him today to replace my old snake, and repti bark was a pain, I hated it. Paper towels just seems easier. What is everyone's take on it?

I use paper towels exclusively with hatchlings. It is cheap, absorbent and easy to change. Paper also allows you to see if there is a problem such as illness.

So when he grows I should switch? He's still a baby..no more than about 12 inches. I've sprinkled some of his substrate from his old home to make his transition easier. Was that a good idea?

Newspaper usually works better for adults. They tend to move around enough that paper towels don't hold up well.

A problem I ran into recently was with the UTH. How are you heating the viv? I was planning on using newspaper til I read the warnings on the UTH about how there needs to be an inch or so of substrate on the bottom of the viv to keep it from getting too hot, so that's something you might want to consider.

Newspaper works well for me. Easy to spot clean and easy for him to cruise around. I have to put a substantial amount to make sure it doesn't get too hot from the undertank heater.
