Viv dimensions.

Now I know a 20 gallon is "suitable" for an adult corn, but for a 6' corn (let's go large), what would the dimensions be on a suitable tank?

I might be looking into getting a larger one soon...

What's the rule again? The length has to be 1/2 or 2/3 the length of the snake and the width 1/3?

I THINK mine is 32Lx13Wx13H... I'm trying to visualize mine in it as an adult, and frankly... I can't. lol

Hi Spirit. I have my largest snake in a 65 gallon tank and that is more than enough room. He didn't use to come out much, but lately he's been tearin the place apart. I know a 20 gallon long should suffice, but in all honestly, I think the largest I am going to be able to go for my hatchlings once they get yearling size or older is going to be a 30 gallon long. I think once you add a bunch of climbing toys and fake plants it gives them plenty of room to get exercise. I think I heard someone describe that the snake is getting too big for it's enclosure once it can stretch the length and width combined.

;) Spirit, I can say honestly, though I have all mine in 20L vivs, that I don't see myself keeping them there indefinitely. I would prefer to house them in 55's once they get that size. Hopefully, I will have "the room", i.e. "reptile room". I feel the bigger space is beneficial. Though I'm sure others will disagree.

For a corn that size, I would go for a 50 or 55 gallon. No idea what the dimensions are.

I don't know if this helps, but my 55 gallon is 4 feet long, 1 foot wide, and 20 inches tall.

Right now my turtle hatchlings are in it, but once they are "old enough" to move outside (in about a year) Sienna is going to inherit that tank.

Thanks, Katie. :)

Hediki: Thanks so much! I was looking for a page like that! Must be psychic. ;)

Jynx: 50 gallons?? Wow... I need to upgrade! lol I'm probably (eventually) going to eventually switch from glass to a large clear rubbermaid/sterlite (for both cost and health purposes).

So for all of you who keep your adults in a 20 gallon (assuming the dimensions are the same on that page), how big are your snakes?

I know this is such an everyday question and I should know the answer (and I guess I do - 20 gallons), but it's always bothered me. My tank (25g) seems SO small for a large adult... lol

Edit: Question for the breeders... I assume you keep your adults in sterlite. How large are the bins?

Thanks, guys!

All the diminsions are imbedded somewhere in this thread: Rack systems (http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6027&page=1)

Ah, very good. My question has been answered.

Corn moves into the python viv, python into sterlite... eventually.

Now what to put in the 25 gallon! lol (gecko's?)

Thanks everyone. As you were. ;)
