Anyone with any decent sized collection uses some form of that. It's not economical to use glass aquariums unless you only have a few snakes.

I've got 7 corns and there is no way I'd have the space to house all of them in glass aquariums, so they're all in sterilites.

I have only 4 corns and I have them all in glass aquariums. I am also looking at getting/building a rack system too.

but does the set up look as good as a glass viv. and with so much corns do many people consider them as all pets, all a way of making money and have a intrest , or some pets and some for marketing. :toiletgra

Use of a rack system doesn't mean that your animals aren't pts simply because they are less visable. Mine are pets because they are regularly handled as such. If anything, use of tubs only serves to encourage more handling, because instead of simply observing their normal behavior thrugh the glass, they all come out to play fairly often...both to make sure they are in good health, and for me to enjoy my pets...

I'm a youngguy lkike yourself, and I simply wouldn't be able to aafford housing all my snakes in individual "regular" setups. also, think about how your space might become limited in the near future if yuo go off to college, move out on your own...whatever. Rack systems just make more sense.

The safe heat level for a plastic containor is alot higher than you would ever need for a corn snake.. If using flexwatt under the tub the temp would reah about 90ish to get your 80-85 degree spot... No worries!

Not a great photo but you can see how I have a collection of 8 and they're all pets. I originally built the display terrarium when I only had 3 snakes and now I have 2 '04 hatchlings in each of the top tubs, one adult female in each of the long tubs and my 2 adult males in the display viv.

I have 2 adults being delivered today for a breeding project and they'll be in long tubs like the adult females for the duration of their stay.

You could put the hottest water out of the tap (like for cleaning) in a tub like that and it wouldn't warp or damage it so you don't need to worry about normal cornsnake temp ranges with the tubs.

WARNING NOTE though, make sure you have enough ventilation holes because temps can build up quite high if you're not careful.

I say if you don't have the room, don't get the pet.

I have 2 snakes and I'm desperately fighting the urge to put my python in a rubbermaid, even though I know it would be easier to care for him, and likely healthier for the snake (humidity, security, etc).

If done correctly though, clear plastic can make a beautiful viv. It definitely has it's benefits.

Oh shush. With my limited space in my apartment I could have a few 10 gallon aquariums, or 18 twelve quart sterilites in my rack.

My snakes are not living a hard life, and their sterilites are plenty big enough for their size.
