Another substrate post hehe

*stretches* I'm out!
Okies heres my problem.. I use this Jungle Earth stuff, which I can't rinse because the bits are too small, and Treasure likes to burrow so I'm worried about her breathing in the little bits. Going to change to a paper product.. which is best? Shredded paper, newspaper, paper towels, or just plain brown craft paper? Have read many posts on here, but none have mentioned shredded paper (Dad is a doctor and has LOTS) or brown craft paper. On a side note, I can't get aspen here, or I'd use that.

Newspaper works fine...or sheets of brown craft paper...
or you can shred it if you so choose...

I don't think any of the things you suggested will NOT work...
Just depends on your personal preference...

I haven't used the Jungle Earth...and don't know what it's made out of...but I can't imagine your snake would continue to burrow if it was breathing a bunch of mulch in...

Where are you, BTW? I saw you mentioned in the heat post that you can't get a power source for a light bulb...

That's okay...you still have north american electrical outlets, correct?

You can order a light and bulb and have them shipped...

OR

You can go to a hardware store...and get a painters light to hold the bulb...just keep it on TOP of the screen and not inside the tank...
So the snake can't contact it...

Gintha,
I work for a pet shop over in ontario, i could probably ship you a couple small bales of pine and a couple heat lamps. Cost for shipping would be about $10.00, plus of course the cost of the product. My pet store special order's retile gear (we havent branched out into reptiles much yet), so it would take about a week for me to get any specialized stuff in stock (like light bulbs, fixtures, etc) but aspen shavings i could get to you within a couple days. PM or email me if youre interested.

Thanks guy =) Dad is away at a conference and is going to check the petstores over there for some stuff for Treasure.. funny that he knows a LOT about snakes, hes terrified of them hehe. Anyhow.. hopefully he can find something, and if not I'll order it =D /hugs

Ahem,

this might be a little late, but I don't think that the snake would breathe in bits of the substrate. If he likes burrowing I'd say your stuff is just fine. Why change?

Just a thought
