From blue to shed?

peep_827

hehehe
How long is it usually between when a snake is blue and when it sheds? Monty was blue Saturday (and scared me pretty bad! LOL) and doesn't appear to have shed yet.

Also, technically today would be feeding day. Should I offer him a mouse, or should I wait until he sheds?

Thanks!

When Sienna goes blue she stays blue for three days, then clears for three days and sheds on the evening of that third day. She's like clockwork, that girl is.

Also, you can offer food when they're in shed. Some will take it, and some won't. Sienna refuses to eat while in shed, but maybe yours will. I say give it a try. :) Good luck!

I've read anywhere from 3 - 6 days, so don't be surprised if it goes a little longer than Katie's snake :)

my little snow was aperently in blue when i got him, as he shed the day after his first feeding! He ate no problem, but i do understand that some snakes wont eat when they are close to shed.

Tigger has shed about 2 -3 days after blue clears. He is a pig and seems to eat whenever food is offered. :eatpointe

Legoless has shed within 48 hours of his eyes clearing both times. I just have to remember that his eyes will clear before he sheds! I'm so new at this. Also...Legoless is a chow-hound as well and will happily eat while preparing to shed.

Still no shed!

Monty hasn't shed yet. At least not unless he's hid the skin somewhere . . . LOL I guess it could be in the aspen or in that darn paper towel tube. I've been leaving him alone, but since tomorrow will be 7 days since he ate I'll get him out then and see if he'll eat and check the viv for his skin, if nothing happens before then. I haven't seen him except now and again he sticks his head out of tube. I know he was blue Saturday, didn't see him at all Sunday, and Monday I saw his head and his eyes were clear. So I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much. :) It just takes time. Just keep the humidity up a bit, and hopefully soon you'll be greeted by a nice freshly shed skin in his viv! Let us know how it goes. :)

The first time Chester shed with me, he was clear for 4 days before the skin finally came off. This last time, he went blue and clear again over the weekend while I was away and shed on the Monday afternoon, before I even realized he was ready. I never can tell.

Chester has never refused a meal, so I don't worry about it much...of course it does make me think of those people who claim that owners and pets take on the same attributes...I can't remember refusing a meal myself :crazy02: :shrugs:
