Satin Mice

Hot dawg..this little guy finally haired out a few days ago and when I was sorting through the mass of babies for feeding night discovered him. Definite keeper status now.

I know the picture isn't too great, its hard to get them to hold still long enough for the camera to focus, but in real life he looks like a pair of satin panties. :D

He's the one on the far right with a couple of his sisters beside him. I'll try to get better pics later on as he grows, hopefully the satiny sheen shows up better with more hair. =)

Sorry, just had to share my elation.

heeheehee :D Such a cutelittle guy, I produce mostly satins and I love how the sheen is so nice on them :)

Well...here is a butt-load of pics of my new satin mouse with more hair, taken just tonight.

*New York accent* We're sleepin here!

He's a calm little bugger, leave him long enough and he goes to sleep..

Can you tell I'm excited??! :crazy02:

PS: You have NO idea how many pictures I took just to get these to turn out right. Fuzzy mice in a dim tub in a dim garage, wow..

I have satin mice as well! Lovely little things and I produced my first long haired one recently which is completely stunning!

here's a photo of my little long-haired satin mouse - rather proud of this one, I have to say!

and I'm trying to get a big breed going with this guy who is practically the size of a hamster

I gotta admit...

I don't really get that close to mice cuz I kinda don't like the little buggers. Although when I used to feed live, I started to like them. These little guys are pretty cute. When I first clicked on this thread I misread the title and thought it said SATAN MICE so I thought I was going to see some mice gone mad or something :)

Wow, Tanya..I love the red color on those. A lot darker than the red ones I have, which are more orange anyway compared to those. And that's a big hoss of a mouse. My older breeder mice, which were before I started adding in the different colors, are a lot bigger than the newly produced breeders. So hopefully I can get back up to the sizes I need for adult mice

I too am working on the long haired trait as well. But the long-ish haired male I have is getting old and spitting out more blanks than swimmers, and the one long haired female he produced is now pregnant with her first litter so we'll see what pops out in the next few weeks.

I wonder...is having a long haired mouse for a snake is as eating high fiber cereal is to humans? :shrugs:

LMAO I wondered exactly the same thing! I'm getting quite a few long-hairs now. Real shame we're not closer or I could let you have a couple. Absolutely typical that all of the real beauties turn out to be boys!

Rachel,

Very easily, most times.

But..the cuter the mice get, the more discriminating I get when picking through on feeding night. "Oh, that one's cute..*lifts it up to check sex*...damn, male...maybe I'll save him back to see how cute he gets.."

At the very least, I'm raising up more fuzzies/hoppers/adults now than before. ;)

Tanya,

Tell me about it, ALL of the prettiest ones I have are male. Which sometimes it works out, but most times I find myself praying before even looking at their rears to see their sex.

lol i kno i wont have a prob with it really. some ppl say i have a cold heart....not true lol i jus dont show my sensitive side that much :D
:sidestep:
