two females housing together?

shortmander

Can two female corns live together? I originally thought that mine was a male, but now i'm not too sure....and, i'm going to be getting a new corn in a few days approximately the same size, and they'll be housing together. The tank is about a 50 gallon, so I'm not worried..and my snake has had tankmates before, but, i know that a male and a female are fine, but are two females, thanks.

if they are about the same size they should be okay. I have two corns and they live together and t hey are two males and they are the best of firends eather that or they are gay and i would be a lil p.oed. But i would say it would be okay

Found it!

Lets Review the Pros and Cons of keeping Cornsnakes together...

Pros
- You don't have to spend the extra money for the additional caging and supplies you will need

Cons
- Cannabilisum
- Aggression
- Stress (which results in not eatting)
- Spread of disease
- If a problem arises (regurge, unusual bowel movement, etc), you will not know which snake is having the problem

The only Pro I could think of is a very selfish thought for an owner...

A 50 gallon tank sounds like it is big enough to be able to put a divider in so they can each have their own space of course it wouldn't protect them from each other if one was sick or had mites

Gay snakes

You would be PO'd if your snakes were gay? :roflmao:

Seriously, I knew a lady who bred parakeets and she had 1 male couple. They took care of each other like mates and wouldn't breed with the females, go figure. Were you planning to breed them?

I've had adult females housed together in times of cage shortage and had no problems. I am also very careful about who I put together, and its normally only temporary. If the animals are older, in that big of a cage, I would say it would be ok since that will give them enough space to get away from each other, and not be on top of each other. Regurges and cannibalism are more likely to happen with young snakes. Established feeding adults are not as prone, and are not as easily stressed out as juviniles.

Males on the other hand, that I would not suggest at all.
