Yep, a Mexican Black! He and the female breed last week, I have my fingers crossed, it is my first time breeding Kings. Although I mainly got them just so they'd be the "clean up" crew. I am starting to REALLY like them, especially since they haven't bitten me. I was intimidated by them at first but they are gaining my trust, so far they have been puppy dogs.
how do those compare to corns as a second snake? I'm very seriously considering getting a king of some kind this summer. I researched milks, kings, and corns before I finally decided on a corn for my first one, but I've still got an itch to get a king....
oooo beautiful snake!i just love mexican blacks if your ever selling the hatchlings let me know cuz i would love to have one sometime(probably not any time soon though)
Thanks!
Jeff I think a Kingsnake would be OK as a second snake, your best bet would be to get one that has already been confirmed to be mellow. It seems to me they are either one way or the other, they just have a reputation because when they are bad.....they're REALLY bad.
Then again, the gentleman I got mine from said they bit him often. They've been here for over two months now without problems. It took me a month and a half of watching the sacrificial husband not get bit before I handled them myself.
I picked him up last August at a show from another vendor. I selected him because he is completely and perfectly black, including his evil wittle heart!
Wow. LLL Reptiles had one at the expo, I have to admit that I considered it . . . but I said "NO! 3 more corns is enough!!!" Really, I had decided what snakes I wanted and decided I wouldn't budge from that plan no matter what . . . I'm rather proud of myself too, I coulda bought a lot more than I did! Like that Mexican Black King . . . those are just beautiful!!!
Wow, that shows some great self control! The last time I went to a show, I almost left without something. But at the last minute I told my hubby I was going to go back for a pair I had seen, and while I was doing that the hubby went back for a pair he had seen. 0 to 4 in 10 minutes!
