Wow!

Wrangler has been hiding for about two weeks. I havent seen him come out at all. Today was feeding day for him. So after feeding levi who seems to allways be out. I walked in on wrangler starting to work a shed off. He had just gotten it past his head and i was able to quietly watch as he worked it all off. It all came off in one long piece. Man that was so cool.

Up untill the time i fed him he was so active. Cruising around the tank checking me out. He ate two pinkies and tucked away under his log when i placed him back in his tank. Now i know he just shed like what 3 or 4 weeks ago. Is it common for them to shed that much. I dont know much about him. He is a petco snake and one of the best looking classic corns i have seen. And now that he shed again his color is really there. I never seen the signs on this one it caught me totaly by suprise. The first shed didnt look like this but he done it while i was on vacation and by the time i was back it was in dry pieces in the tank. Humidity is about 55 and temps are 80 warm, 72 cool.

He has never missed a meal and when compared to my creamsicle he is fatter but about 2 to 4 inches shorter. Where my cream is as long as a ten gallon tank but fairly skinny. Just wanted yalls opinion on the shed so close to the last.

Expect hatchlings to shed every month, as they grow at such a fast rate while they're young. As a corn ages, the sheds are less frequent.

Fun to watch it while it happens, isn't it? I caught my amel, J.D., shedding a couple of months ago. I was captivated.

regards,
jazz

One of my 03 amels had a "growing spurt" back in early 04 where he had 3 consecutive sheds about 22-26 days apart. It was amazing. Seemed like everytime I looked at him he was in the blue! He is the largest of my 03's by the way

My caramel female is in the middle of a similar thing. She shed on the 30th of March, and just came out of blue the other night. I expect her to shed either.....now, or tomorrow after getting a nice big fat mouse.

I wish my females would do that! Seems like all my girls are slow growers :shrugs:

Its good to know that it is normal. After him hiding and not comeing out for soo long. I was starting to get worried. It still amazing how diffrent he is compared to my new creamsicle. Both in build and behavior.

I can relate to that...my 03 amel zig zag seems to be taking her sweet time, and she had a pretty big growth spurt in Dec.-Jan. that I thought would maybe turn things around...I'm hoping she'll be of size for breeding in 06 but it's not a sure thing, at least at this point in the year... :shrugs:

Oh trust me, she needs to grow like a weed if I'm going to breed her next year. I've decided that I'm going to start cutting the mice and hopefully she'll hit a nice big growth spurt. I'm gunning for 6+ inches and oh, another 200+ grams, LoL!!!

I still say it's possible. She put on just over 10 grams in two weeks, and I'll compare her weight before feeding this afternoon to last weeks numbers and see what I've got.

I figure I've got 8 solid months to plump her up, which is what, 32 weeks? Divide that by half and I've got 16 two week periods, and if I can average about 15grams retained per two feedings I *should* make it...I hope.

I just had the longest peroid of time go between sheds that I've had so far. 2½ months for an adult male who's down to a feed every 2 weeks. My record for quickest skin turnaround is 3 weeks and 2 days on a hatchling at about 2-3 months.

Hell no I'm not. I even went and bought cuticle scissors today at the dollar store (they were in a 4 piece manicure set) so perhaps after I cut the mice in a bit I'll give myself a manicure.
