Feeding Schedule

Hello! Im a newb and a little short on money. I am going to be getting a hatchling in 2 weeks. A reptile expo is coming to my city though and the frozen rodent prices are alot cheaper than my pet shop. If i bought 25 pinks and 25 fuzzies would that be to little pinks? Would that also last me a year? Thanks! :shrugs:

When i got my snake i simply bought enough pinkies to last him tell next expo. I suggest you do the same, because you never know how fast, or slow, your snake will grow. But you really dont have to worry about running out of mice for your snake, it can last several days without food, so feed him at an apropriate schedule for you and your pinkie problem.

Well, if you're just getting one hatchling and you're going to feed it a pinkie every 7 days, 25 *should* be enough.

If you want to feed every 5 days, and figured 30 days in a month and that averages out to 6 feedings a month, so that would last you approximately 4.16 months---again you should be okay.

Judging from how my snakes grow, 25 should be enough to get you through to fuzzy time. If not, you might pick up a few pet shop mice to get you through and it shouldn't cost too much. That said, some grow faster, some slower. One of my 2004's went to 2 pinks per feed after about 15 feeds and to fuzzies shortly after that, so 25 pinks would be a good guestimate for her. Others seem to take forever to grow and it seems like they'll nev er get onto fuzzies!
