What do you think?

I just moved into my new apartment at school and i have my 3 month old rev. okeetee. I have him in his cage in the living room where people walk in and out infront of his cage a lot, now in your opinion do you think this will get him use to people more or would it cause more stress? He is great never bit me once or nething, hes just a little jumpy sometimes being that he is young and not use to people quite yet but i mean hes great hes fine with me and everyone. what do you guys think of this ?

Greetings. This is one of those questions that does not have a correct or incorrect answer. As it basically depends on the snake, some will do well in this situation and some will feel nervous. Judge the snake's reaction to this setup. If there are plenty of hiding spots, it will most likely be ok. I have several of my snakes out in the living room that have been there since hatchlings, and they could care less about all the traffic :cheers:

I have never been concerned with my little guy. I have people over to my place all the time and it doesn't seem to mind. He'll still cruise around the cage, but usually no one's within 5 feet of him most of the time so he still has a little space. I had a birthday party the other week with a dozen people or so. I put a towel over the cage because some people there were scared of him, but I think he enjoyed it 'cause it gave him a lot more privacy and whenever I'd peek in at him he was exploring his cage as usual. So give him his space and if you get concerned about him stressing out just make sure no one crowds around the cage and if need be put a towel over the cage and I think you'll and your corn will be just fine.

I think that is a good idea but a better idea is to hold him more and maybe have other people hold him too. the ones that are comfortable hold a snake some people are weird like that and don't like touching them for some reason :rofl:

thanks for the input... yea i feel my snake is fine with it i hold him a real lot i never had a problem with him i just wanted to see what you guys thought about the situation, i appreciate all the input.

I'd say the only thing left to keep in mind is feeding.
Put a towel over his feeding cage and/or try to feed him when there arn't too many people around, unless you know your snakes alright with an "audience." Once I was feeding my snakes and a huge heard of people (band over for some recording) walked into the room. One of my hatchlings got quite nervous and wouldn't take her meal for quite some time. It took her quite awhile to start eating even infront of me again.

Hopefully he'll do just fine in your living room. You may even get some of your friends started on corns. I had a few friends who housed their snow in their living room... Think they got a bit annoyed with my pestering them to let her out all the time though :grin01:
