Field Herping Pics

Nice finds Tim. Do you have any of the environmental collection data for those finds?

No I don't Gary, but I should have kept track.. Apparently the Glossy is supposed to be harder to find now.. I find more Mojaves and Sidewinders, but the Glossy certainly makes number three.. Everything else seems to be really hard for me to find... I give a good general location of where the majority of them were found.. ( Three of the four were found on Ghost town road/Calico Blvd and the long nose was found about 10 miles from the others.. )

Regards..

Yup your right, arizona elegans.. My mistrake.. Thank you for your correction mbdorfer .. Hopefully I didn't confuse more people than myself in this case..

It's a beautiful specimen, never seen one that golden before!

I hate to say all of them, but the glossy's in this area I have come across have all looked very similair to that one Mike.. That one was around 30 inchs or so, I found even a larger one than the one I posted, had to be 36 inchs and an inch and 1/2 thick.. The one pictured was a full inch around maybe a hair more..

Regards...

I have only seen a few in my time. Most were more grey/brown and about 2'. That one in your pic is just outstanding IMO. Thanks again for posting!

I went out this evening for a bit... 2 sidewinders and one unidentified hatchling ( road kill ), but I am thinking it was a coach whip.. I thought they would be decent pictures to post.. I am fortunante enough to live in a diverse area of California where I can get to areas with very little traffic.. I think I was lucky tonight with the storm rolling.. Covering up the moon seems to be a good time to go looking..

Regards..

I am just curious what part of socal you are in. The finds you have shown/mentioned are pretty much what we used to find going up through the High Desert. Nothing beats Joshua Tree National Monument on a full moon :). I'd love to see some pics of the coachwhips. They were always one of my favorite.

Yuppers, the high desert is where I am at.. Just north of Barstool, err make that Barstow.. I have only found a few Coachwhips, unfortunantly they have been road kill..

Regards...
