Problem with consistant temp Please Help!

BabyMowgli

just one more....
Hi everyone,
I am having a lot of problems keeping a consistant temp in my viv. The room in which my snake lives is a constant temp but his tank varies from 75 - 86. It has been around the 74-75 range lately, so i turn on the heat lamp, but i know you are not supposed to have a UTH and a heat lamp on at the same time, but it is the only way i get good temps!!?? :shrugs: Any suggestions???

I would see what your substrate temps are, especially under the warm side hide. I suspect that it's plenty warm, even if the air temps are in the 70's above. I've rarely found that the uth doesn't do the trick for them, no matter the outside air temps. Unless your house drops into the 50's or low 60's, I wouldn't worry about it so much.

75-86 is a perfectly fine range. Are you referring to it varying from one end of the tank to the other? Or does the warm side range from 75-86? Is the UTH on a rheostat or thermostat? If it is and the room is constant than I don't see a reason why the viv temps wouldn't be consistent as well.
