I just got some rat colonies going and I was planning on getting one more male. My question is, if I get a new male, can I just put him in with my group of 3 females, or is there anything special I have to do to introduce him? Maybe send him in with some flowers for the ladies?
 
I would add him when you do a cage cleaning (ie. new bedding and washed out container). This removes the old scents and adds a disorienting effect to the established colony. I constantly rearrange my mice/rat colonies because of births and wean-offs and I have not had any (knock on wood) problems with aggressiveness or injuries.
